About

Big Fish Environmental started in 2004 as a response to growing demand for an alternative method to the land application of septage waste. John Campbell, the founder of Big Fish Environmental, started developing the technology with the help of professionals in the wastewater industry, which had struggled for years to find a solution to the septage disposal issue in the State of Michigan. Two months of successful testing proved that the technology worked and the first plant was built in Charlevoix, MI. Over the past four years the Big Fish process has been refined and simplified to create practical turnkey designs for its clients. The pilot plant started up in December of 2005 with the approval from all local and state officials and was the first facility of its kind in the State of Michigan. Big Fish Environmental has established itself as the industry’s leader in septage, biosolids and fats/oils/grease treatment with its patent pending, low maintenance and cost effective plant designs.
